Professor Kirk Smith is with the Environmental Health Sciences Program in the School of Public Health. Professor Smith’s research addresses the relationships among environmental quality, health, resource use, development, and policy in developing countries. Prof. Smith is author or co-author of several hundred publications and focuses on environmental and health issues in developing countries, particularly those related to health-damaging and climate-changing air pollution from household energy use.
Kirk's dedication to the environment is reflected in his beekeeping and honey harvesting at his home in the Berkeley Hills--loving nature like a true Cal Bear.
